Passport and Visa Information

A valid passport and, in some cases, a visa is required to travel to Brazil to citizens of countries that impose the same restriction to Brazilian citizens.

Please check here for a list of countries whose citizens do not need a visa to travel to Brazil.

If your country does not have a visa exemption, in particular if you are from US, Canada, China, India and others, please visit the Brazilian Embassy website in Washington, D.C., for more information on how to apply for one.

Note that for scientists, professors or researchers attending cultural, technological or scientific conferences, seminars, a tourist visa is required. In this case, an invitation letter must be submitted.

Information on how to get an invitation letter is available here.

Note also that the brazilian embassies in US have assigned jurisdictions, in terms of geographical area covered. A specific embassy only processes visa applications submitted by visa service agencies for applicants who reside inside its assigned jurisdiction. Applicants who reside outside an embassy jurisdiction can still apply at its section by coming in person to it. Specific embassy jurisdictions can be found at here.

For further information about visa application requirements, contact your travel agent or a local Brazilian Consulate office. You can also check the information available at the Brazilian Tourism Portal.

How to Request an Invitation Letter

IEEE INFOCOM 2009 can assist you by providing you a letter stating that you have a paper in the conference or are registered to attend.

For Authors of Technical and Mini-Conference papers

Authors of technical and Mini-Conference papers can obtain visa letters through EDAS. When you log onto your personal home page and into your paper you submitted there will be a letter shaped icon (visa letter). Once you click on it, a PDF of the visa letter is generated. If you need further assistance regarding your visa letter contact Bridget Erlikh directly at b.erlikh@comsoc.org

All Other Attendees

All other attendees must register for the conference first with full payment, and complete the VISA request form.

Please note that VISA Assistance request may take up to 7 days to process.
